Redsys errors: list and explanations

The last thing you want to tell your customers is there’s a problem with their payment but if you use Redsys, you’ve probably encountered a Redsys error at some point.

Redsys is a payment gateway that allows you to accept card payments and Bizum. When a transaction can’t be processed for any reason, you often receive a Redsys error code. This lets you know if your customer is using an expired card, they’ve entered their pin incorrectly, or if the payment method isn’t accepted.

What are the most common Resdys errors?

Although there are hundreds of Redsys error codes, some are far more common than others. Here are eight that you’re likely to come across:

Error 101

The cardholder’s card has expired. When you encounter error 101, the only solution is to ask your customers to use another card or an alternative payment method since the card they’re attempting to pay with is no longer valid.

Error 102

If your customer’s card is temporarily blocked, you’ll be notified with error 102. A blocked card could be because of a fraudulent transaction but that’s not the only reason. Ask your customer to find out the reason their card is blocked and to take measures to unblock it. 

Error 106

If you’ve ever forgotten your PIN, you’re not alone. When your customer enters their PIN number incorrectly multiple times, you’ll see error 106. Your customer’s card is automatically blocked for security reasons and they’ll have to contact their bank to unblock it. They can use an alternative card to pay in the meantime.

Error 129

An easy to fix problem is error 129. This happens when the cardholder enters the wrong CVC2 security number. The solution is for the customer to enter the correct number. 

Error 913

If your customer presses the order confirmation button several times or if there’s some kind of Redsys programming error, the system might try to process two identical transactions with the same order number. Error 913 acts as a security measure to stop the order from being loaded twice. There’s no need to do anything in this situation.

Error 950

When your customer tries to make a return and the refund payment fails, you’ll often see error 950. This can happen if returns aren’t part of your agreement with your payment processor. Contact them to check and change your agreement to be able to offer this service.

Error 9093

Error 9093 tells you that the card doesn’t exist. It could be because the card has been canceled but whatever the reason, it’s important to let your customer know so they can contact their card issuer and resolve the problem.

Error 9454

Certain cards aren’t accepted with some POS (point of sale) services. When this is the case, you’ll receive error 9454. This doesn’t have anything to do with the legality or condition of the customer’s card and limited choices might make your customer shop elsewhere, which is why it’s important to accept multiple payment options.
